Empowering 100 Vulnerable Jamaican Households Devastated by Hurricane Melissa
Our Core Initiatives
Empowering change for a brighter tomorrow
Roof Rehabilitation
CSS Help 500 will restore secure shelter for over 500 vulnerable Jamaicans affected by Hurricane Melissa, focusing on low-income single parents likely also caring for elderly relatives. We will deliver hurricane-resistant roofing repairs and retrofitting to result in safer and more durable homes, better equipped to withstand future storms.
Water Storage Systems
CSS Help 500 will help to ensure that more families have access to clean water by installing rainwater harvesting systems and safe storage tanks. Families will be able to store potable water for drinking, cooking and hygiene. Beneficiaries will be trained to maintain resilient water systems to witstand droughts, floods, and other climate-related disruptions.
Solar Power Support
The project will provide basic solar energy solutions to restore light, connectivity, and relative comfort to affected beneficiary households. These systems will provide power for lighting, device charging, and operating small appliances, reducing dependence on sections of the grid and helping families regain stability after Hurricane Melissa.
Empowerment & Sustainability
CSS Help 500 goes beyond immediate recovery, to foster lasting empowerment. Volunteers will receive training and certification, while children in beneficiary households will gain virtual learning support and digital devices. Families will also benefit from tailored business start-up kits and six months of mentorship, equipping them to rebuild livelihoods and achieve long-term self-reliance.
